A-Okay

The only guy on the A's who's really making any news this year is Sonny Gray. There's not a whole lot else to talk about in Oakland. The pitching is okay. The defense is okay. The team hits every once and a while.

It's really sad, because a few years ago this was a cinderella team of young spare parts who'd all gotten hot at the same time. They had a few pennant runs back there, but nothing really came of it, which is a real shame, as there was some real talent there.

There are some talented folks there now, like Marcus Semien, Chris Coghlan and Billy Burns, but very few of them are homegrown. The trades that nabbed Jeff Samardzija and Jon Lester (albeit briefly) cost them, as they traded away some legitimate team-builders for two guys that barely even helped them get far in the postseason.

Semien is a pretty nice infielder, and is one of the best defenders on the team. He's young, he's productive, and he's got a good shot of being one of the few All Star Game representatives from Oakland, if Sonny Gray doesn't snag it first.

Not a ton to write about as far is Oakland's concerned in 2016, which is sad.

Coming Tomorrow- He came up big. He was injured last year. Now, and this I'm pretty sure of, HE'S BACK!

  1. I believe in Stephen Vogt. By far my favorite current Oakland A.

    1. I too believe in Stephen Vogt... but I don't have very high expectations for the Athletics this year. Just hoping they don't do something foolish like trade away Gray.
